tools and technology from engineering to analyze and solve problems in medicine, biology and agricultural sciences, using innovative approaches and providing an overall improvement in healthcare and a better understanding of the human and animal body.<\/p><p>The Master&#8217;s and PhD programs in Biomedical Engineering, approved by the University Council of the University of Mogi das Cruzes (UMC) and recognized by the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) and recommended by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). The Program is offered at the main campus and has the coordination of researchers from the UMC&#8217;s Technological Research Center (NPT).<\/p><p>Target Audience: Graduated professionals and\/or Masters in different areas such as Exact Sciences, Biological Sciences, Agricultural Sciences and Health Sciences.<\/p><p>Course Objectives: The main objective of the program is to integrate Exact Sciences and Engineering with Health Sciences and Medicine, providing professionals to work on Biomedical Engineering area. These professionals will work in research and technological development, to meet the demand in research institutions and companies. Another objective is to empower college professors, providing them with multidisciplinary training and expanding their knowledge horizons and areas of operation.<\/p><p>Course Structure: To obtain the master\u2019s degree in biomedical engineering, the student must complete 48 credits. The first 24 credits (360 hours) will be obtained after attending and being approved in all mandatory disciplines and the elective ones that the student choose as of their interest. The remaining 24 credits will be obtained after the dissertation defense.<\/p><p>For the PhD Degree in Biomedical Engineering, the student must complete 72 credits. Of this total, 36 credits (540 hours) will be obtained after attending and being approved in all mandatory disciplines and the elective ones that were chosen. The remaining 36 credits will be obtained after the development of an original work, presentation and approval of the Thesis.<\/p><p>The disciplines will be selected according to the chosen area of concentration in such way that enhance the student\u00b4s participation in practical activities. Additionally, the Research Project, is carried out under the supervision of a program professor, will be developed in the already installed Research Laboratories at UMC, with the support of FAEP,
